The separate Android Play Free edition is local-only

The separate Android Play Free product, Redact It, decodes, edits, and exports images on your device. It does not use OCR and contains no analytics, account, payment, licensing, advertising, or cloud-sync service. It requests no Internet permission and does not collect or share personal data.

Sections below about OCR, aggregate product events, Stripe, Pro activation, purchase records, and generated installation identifiers apply only to SlateVeil web and Pro. They do not apply to the separate Redact It Android Play Free edition.

On Android, the Redact It home-screen widget opens the system Photo Picker. Redact It receives access only to the image you choose and does not request broad photo or storage permission. A local reference to the chosen image may be kept until the handoff to the editor completes or an unreadable handoff is cleared. The widget itself does not read or upload images.

SlateVeil web and Pro images and OCR stay on your device

SlateVeil web and Pro decode, edit, scan, and export images on your device. Screenshot pixels, filenames, OCR text, redaction boxes, and custom detection expressions are not uploaded to SlateVeil.

Local app data and Android backup

SlateVeil web and Pro may store custom patterns, saved settings, cached app files, a signed Pro receipt, a generated random installation identifier, and a random per-device refresh secret on your device. Immediately after purchase or recovery-key rotation, the new recovery key remains locally visible until you confirm that you saved it. The separate Redact It Android Play Free edition may keep cached app files and a pending Photo Picker handoff in its sandbox while the editor opens, but it has no Pro receipt or purchase installation identifier. Clear the browser's site data, or clear Redact It's Android app storage or uninstall the app, to remove this local data.

The Android app excludes its files, preferences, databases, and other app data from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. Save the app-issued recovery key somewhere secure because local settings and activation data will not be restored automatically on a replacement device.

Aggregate product events on the web

The web edition may count landing view, editor opened, first image loaded, first export completed, upgrade clicked, checkout opened, purchase completed, and license activated. Its product database stores daily aggregate counts by event and sanitized campaign labels, not a per-user activity history. These counters do not contain image data, OCR output, license or device identifiers, payment details, account identifiers, or advertising cookies. Browser Do Not Track disables app-originated event requests; a completed purchase may still be counted from the payment provider's confirmation.

Hosting and site-security requests

Keeping screenshot processing local does not mean the website makes no network requests. The hosting and content-delivery providers may process ordinary request information and security signals, such as IP address, user agent, cookies, request timing, and challenge or abuse-detection data, to deliver and protect the site. SlateVeil does not put screenshot pixels, filenames, OCR text, redaction geometry, or custom detection expressions into those requests.

Web and Pro payments and activation

Purchases are processed by the provider shown at checkout. That provider handles billing, payment, and receipt information under its own terms. SlateVeil does not receive or store full card details. The separate Redact It Android Play Free edition has no purchase or activation flow.

When Stripe purchase activation is used, SlateVeil stores one-way hashes of the checkout session, payment identifier, app-issued recovery key, and per-device refresh secret; the product purchased; purchase, activation, and last-refresh times; the purchase status (active or revoked); any full-refund or dispute reason; related provider event identifiers; and the generated random installation identifier used to enforce the three-device limit. The readable recovery key and per-device secret are not stored on the server. A signed receipt stored on the device contains the product, status, hashed purchase reference, random installation identifier, issue time, and expiration time.

If a merchant-issued license-key flow is offered, the readable key is sent through SlateVeil to that licensing provider for validation. SlateVeil does not store the readable key; its signed receipt contains a one-way hash and the provider's activation identifier.

Retention and deletion requests

Purchase and activation records are retained as needed to validate a lifetime entitlement, enforce device limits, handle refunds or disputes, prevent abuse, and meet accounting or legal obligations. Aggregate counters cannot normally be linked back to a person.

To request deletion of server-side purchase or activation records controlled by SlateVeil, email nomadov3rland@gmail.com with "SlateVeil data deletion" in the subject and include the merchant receipt number needed to locate the record. Do not send a full license key, card number, or private screenshot. We may need to verify that you control the purchase. Deletion is subject to legally required retention and may disable Pro activation or purchase recovery. Payment providers may retain their own transaction records under their policies.
